State Sen. Ron Alting, a Republican on the ballot for an eighth term, faces Democrat Natasha Baker, a teacher from Battle Ground, in Indiana Senate District 22 in the Nov. 3 election.

Alting, first elected to the Senate seat in 1998, won a May Republican primary against Richard Bagsby, a construction business owner from Tippecanoe County, to win the nomination. Baker beat Marlena Edmondson, a social worker from Lafayette, for the Democratic nomination.

Indiana Senate District 22 includes Lafayette, an eastern portion of Tippecanoe County and all of Carroll County.
