Part of what makes it hard is there were also folks there further up the bridge than the fountain, so that sort of formed most of the "front" even though it was before the main group. The drone shot would miss those and those already on or over the bridge. Probably the best timelapse view for counting would have been a security cam from the courthouse or something, where folks were spread out on the sidewalk, but it doesn't look like there's anything like that that's public.
Just ballparking, I'd say it was order of magnitude close in size to filling the Purdue volleyball gym, which Google says seats 2,288. So something in the 1k-3k range seems right, or you hundreds "estimate" that includes tens or twenty of hundreds.
And I can't edit my post, but just realized the substack app renders a higher res photo than online and yeah that looks like the drone caught basically the entirety of the group (albeit would be much harder to count at the car end of the bridge than the close end), very impressive shot!
Who cares? The crowd size means nothing. The numbers mattered at the poles not some after election protest of Trump from people who already hated him. These simply make people feel better about themselves and mean absolutely nothing.
Regardless of the number will it make a difference at the state or federal level regarding policies and actions of government? Probably not. Will this translate to a different outcome in future elections? Probably not state or federally. Local? Maybe. Though there seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction with a heavily democratic WL City Council related to their recent SK Hynix decisions. So maybe we will see a race to the left in a future primary. Hopefully all this extra traffic downtown yesterday equated to some extra business for the vendors at the Farmers Market.
I like the idea of a "find Dave" analog to "find Waldo." You gave us the answer on this first entry.
Thousands, hundreds, dozens... just glad I'm not alone.
I have some expertise here. The crowd size was more than 0. My consulting fee has more than one 0 and begins with a prime number. Remit.
Dave you shot the timelapse, just count? ;)

Thanks for the coverage, Dave!
Thanks for all, especially the song from Denise Wilson

Sure, obsessing about crowd sizes is more of an Orange Menace thing. The low turnout at his big boy tank parade feels more significant.
