ACCUSED IN PLOT TO SHOOT JUDGE MEYER, MOSS ASKS SPECIAL JUDGE TO RECUSE HERSELF

A Lafayette man accused of being the centerpiece of an alleged plot that led to the Jan. 18 attempted murder of Tippecanoe Superior Court 2 Judge Steve Meyer has asked in a hand-written letter to the court for the special judge handling his case and other connected to it to step down he can have a judge “capable of … being impartial.”

Thomas Moss, 34, of Lafayette, argues in a six-page letter that Cass County Superior Court 2 Judge Lisa Swaim – assigned to Moss’ case and those of his alleged co-conspirators – has shown signs of bias for the prosecution and against him and his attorneys at various points since he was arrested and charged less than a week after the shooting at Meyer’s Lafayette home.

“My hope is that this court will do the honorable thing by removing herself from this cause in the interest in justice,” Moss wrote.
