  • Support for Based in Lafayette comes from Purdue Convocations, presenting At the Illusionist’s Table. Experience the unexpected as artist Scott Silven returns to Purdue with his revelatory, marvel of an evening. After a sold-out engagement of this show in 2018, we return to Silven’s magical world where evocative stories, culinary delights, and stunning elixirs swirl together in the most intimate and mind-bending illusion and epicurean immersion you’ve ever encountered. At the Illusionist’s Table is an extraordinarily special and limited engagement — designed to provide critical support for Purdue Convocations. This remarkable experience features only six seatings of 24 guests, each one featuring a bespoke, gourmet three-course dinner curated by Chef Dawn Sieber and exquisitely served by students from Purdue’s Hospitality and Tourism Management program, with wine and single-malt pairings inspired by the mystery and surprise of the evening. AFTER DATA CENTERS AND SOLAR, COUNTY LOOKS INTO ZONING RESTRICTIONS ON BATTERY STORAGE PROJECTS

Fresh off regulations finalized last week and designed to make it difficult to develop hyperscale data centers in Tippecanoe County, the Area Plan Commission’s Ordinance Committee last week recommended a short-term measure in the county’s zoning code to do the same for battery energy storage systems, known as BESS.

A proposal to limit battery energy storage systems to I2/industrial zones will go to the full Area Plan Commission as soon as Dec. 16, with final votes by county commissioners and Lafayette and West Lafayette city councils after that.

The move would be similar to one Tippecanoe County commissioners made in 2025 as a one-year, stopgap measure on large-scale data centers while county planners came up with more robust regulations.
