Last seen, an attempt to ban West Lafayette police and other city departments had been vetoed by Mayor John Dennis and an attempt to override it went nowhere.
David Sanders, a city council member who carried the proposed ordinance in late 2021, is back with a 2.0 version of the ban that he contends answers questions raised during the last debate but still addresses Big Brother-style privacy issues he wants to solve.
Whether a softer version has the votes to pass, let alone get past another veto likely in the offing, is another matter.
