An open house Thursday offers a look at the future west and north of West Lafayette, including a concept for a direct U.S. 231 extension to I-65

ANOTHER LOOK AT THE WABASH/TIPPECANOE TOWNSHIP LAND USE PLANS
Judging by the first pass local planners took at gathering public feedback on draft versions of Wabash Township and Tippecanoe Township land use plans, interest is high.
Cars overflowed parking lots at the Wabash Township Fire Station on Klondike Road and residents left telling about being frustrated during an initial open house in December meant to show details of a land use study that had been in the works since July 2022.
Ryan O’Gara, assistant director of the APC, said: “Let’s try this, again.”
Thursday is a do-over, this time at Harrison High School, as the Area Plan Commission gathers public comment through the end of January on a plan that contemplates growth in the two townships, spreading west and north out of West Lafayette. That includes conceptual road projects, such as a potential northern, more direct extension of U.S. 231 between Sagamore Parkway and Interstate 65 in the northern part of Tippecanoe County.
