BAKER SEEKS MOMENTUM IN SENATE DISTRICT 22, AS ADS ROLL AMID ALTING’S CAMPAIGN STEP BACK
A special prosecutor from Elkhart County assigned to look into a series of police cases of alleged shoplifting from a Lafayette Walmart and linked to state Sen. Ron Alting had not made a report to the court about whether or not to file charges, as of Monday morning, according to Tippecanoe Circuit Court records.

Television ads for Alting’s campaign for an eighth term in Indiana Senate District 22 continued over the weekend, more than a week after he announced that he was stepping back from his campaign as he was “experiencing concerning changes in my judgment and cognitive functioning,” that “I did things that were wrong and completely out of character for me,” and that he had sought medical help “and am now undergoing further evaluation.”
This weekend, Natasha Baker, a school teacher from Battle Ground, continued to ramp up her campaign as the Democratic candidate in the Senate District 22 race, including her first television ad, which alludes to Alting’s situation.
