In their partial defense, I think they were concerned about not having the stop arms, lights etc., but all the kids were conditioned to the safety bubble around a yellow bus. I still don't know what would have happened if a driver passed a stopped bendy bus that happened to contain more 16 year olds than 20 year olds? Anyway, West Side transportation director and veritable logistics wizard Doug Caldwell came up with a plan that only required one more bus and minimal shifts in school start times. Too bad they couldn't come up with as good a transportation plan across the river.
