Concert, rodeo venue’s zoning south of Lafayette heads to commissioners, fate in question
Family, friends vouch for Benito Munoz’s Plaza Rancho Alegre, opened in 2021 without proper zoning. Neighbors say it’s too much for a quiet part of the county. Commissioners could make or break it
Programming note before we get started: I’m sorry for the confusion over delivery of Thursday’s edition/editions. Substack reported a technical problem that morning, saying it prevented some email from going out properly. After hearing from a few of you early Thursday morning, I duplicated the copy and resent it with a “Rewind” tag in the headline. When Substack resolved the issue, both versions went out again, simultaneously. If you read both, I applaud you. There should be a prize or something. If you didn’t, believe me, either one should have been sufficient. Either way, thanks for your patience and grace. And thanks for subscribing. Tell your friends – multiple times, if you want.

That’s what the Area Plan Commission was there to consider Wednesday evening.
The other problem: Neighbors say the bands play loud enough and late enough to rattle their windows a mile away and traffic overwhelms the rural county roads, several of them gravel.
