Coroner: Mother, 5-year-old daughter’s deaths murder-suicide
Mother had been charged in July for fraud, theft. Plus, power outages expected to last into Sunday after Saturday morning storm.
Rayleigh Bloyd, a 5-year-old Lafayette girl, was shot and killed Thursday afternoon by her mother, Tracy Bondurant, according to preliminary autopsy results released Saturday by Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello.
Bondurant, 43, committed suicide by shooting herself in the head, according to the coroner Saturday.
Police were still investigating what led to the homicide and the suicide, reported Thursday afternoon in a home in the 100 block of Kincaid Drive, a subdivision off Poland Hill Road, in southern Lafayette.
According to court records, Bondurant had been charged in early July and arrested and in court a week before the shooting deaths.
