With an appeal coming, state Sen. Spencer Deery asks whether Recount Commission member Paul Mullin’s ties to U.S. Sen. Jim Banks influenced decisions to throw out ballots, flip the state Senate race.
I’m not a voter for Deery and I don’t live in his district…but I completely support his desire to investigate the Banks and the money connection. Also, why aren’t the ballots “assessed for suitability” which is BS anyway—a vote cast is a vote cast if one is registered—but why aren’t the selected candidates on the ballot covered up somehow so that a completely impartial decision could be made about its validity?
It really galls me to think that a crook like Morales would handle and investigate my ballot, and after seeing my name and for whom I voted, decide whether I was worthy of counting.

The joke used to be that Illinois was so corrupt that being elected governor was a ticket to state prison. Sadly, Indiana has become poisoned with elected officials who do nothing because they know the "R" next to their name means almost automatic reelection and more money in their pockets. I didn't vote for either candidate but this needs scrutiny. It won't come from the Indy (IU) Star, too afraid of alienating what few subscribers it has remaining.
And we are at the point in this state (heck, country) where constituents are hesitant to post any opinion whatsoever online lest they be charged with a crime of some sort.
Check your voter registration status REGULARLY to make sure that, “oops” you somehow don’t disappear, and have a plan for Election Day. Invite your friends. 🤓
Deery voters still have the option to register their anger by voting for the Democratic candidate in November. They can send a message against corruption, and its not like the GOP will lose their majority
I hope they'll do something like that, though overall I'm pessimistic. The only unifying principle held by the Republican Party - particularly in Indiana - is that Democrats should never hold power. So Copenhaver, like Max Miller in Ohio and Ken Paxton in Texas, will still get the vast majority of votes from people who regard her win as corrupt.

As with everything, follow the money. Keep pressing and asking questions. There was no scenario where Deery was going to get a fair shake in all this.

I don’t know how to predict how the independent (Brant) will affect the general.
Perhaps that is where Deery voters turn, and that would give Sanders enough of a margin versus Copenhaver?
