DELPHI MURDER DEFENSE: INVESTIGATORS ARE CHASING ODINIST THEORY, NOW

A pair of court filings this week from the attorneys for Richard Allen, the Delphi man accused of the 2017 murders of teens Abigail Williams and Libby German, piled onto claims first made in September that investigators lied and suppressed evidence about a supposed ritualistic sacrifice theory when getting a search warrant they said implicated Allen.

Attorneys Brad Rozzi and Andrew Baldwin argued in filings Monday and Tuesday that Carroll County Sheriff Tony Liggett swore under oath that a Purdue professor consulted about the murder scene had told investigators that sticks found arranged on and near the girls’ bodies were not “runes,” which might have been symbolic of cult worship of the Norse god Odin.

Allen’s attorneys told the court that an audio recording of an investigator’s recent interview with the Purdue professor tells a different story – “that ‘it was a given’ that someone was trying to replicate a Germanic runic script” at the murder scene.
