DESPITE REPEAT DEMANDS, WL COUNCIL DECLINES TO TAKE UP GAZA CEASEFIRE MEASURE
West Lafayette residents requesting that the city take a formal stand calling for a ceasefire in Gaza said Monday night that they would return in May to make the same demands, after West Lafayette City Council members listened to nearly an hour of public comment before saying they had no plans to address the war between Israel and Hamas.
As they had during the city council’s March meeting, those calling for local action in the press for a ceasefire filled council chambers that can hold a little more than 100, saying that cities the size of West Lafayette could help tip the balance in getting the White House to push for a pause in the fighting.
