EXPANDED DISTRICT FOR CARRY-OUT DRINKS COMING BY MAY IN DOWNTOWN LAFAYETTE
Carryout drinks will be available from more than a dozen downtown Lafayette bars and restaurants in a matter of weeks, after the Lafayette City Council gave final approval Monday to an extension to the city’s first “designated outdoor refreshment area.”
The council voted unanimously to clear the way, in the process adding La Scala to the list of downtown restaurants and bars in the DORA.
Myles Holtsclaw, senior community development manager for the city, said the final application with the new boundaries was going to the state Tuesday. Holtsclaw said he anticipated that window clings for participating bars and restaurants and signs along the boundaries of the area would be ready to go by the first or second weekend in May. He also said some of the businesses were planning a kickoff event for the expanded DORA in June.
