Such a dumb rule, since it's the class combination that equals a degree and multiple degrees can take the classes. So it's entirely arbitrary, could have done a review asking for data to do some systematic cuts, but arbitrary and capricious seems to be modus operandi for the conservatives accross the board

I can say that eliminating the Math with CS degree will save no money whatsoever. It’s a subset of the Math major - there isn’t a separate department head or staff that manages it and all the coursework is from other the existing math or CS degrees. It used to be a somewhat popular add-on dual major for a CS student. I’m guessing it isn’t that popular as a students sole major… but again, this will save no significant money.

Might actually cost money, tuition for an extra semester or two it takes to finish an add-on masters.

As a "Humanities side of the house" graduate of Purdue, it pains me to see this list. I know comparative literature isn't high for "jobs"... but what? We just eliminate the course of study and resign our future selves to ignorance?

I think the merge/consolidate option allows it to continue in some form, so I think/hope comp lit will continue to exist in a meaningful way.

I understand that degree-offerings which have slack enrollment at state universities can be folded into programs at selected campuses.

That's logical and eliminates redundancy.

Universities were once centers of learning, inquisitive research, and interdisciplinary studies across the liberal arts and sciences.

Courses not only taught subject matter, but also about the wider spectrum of life to think logically and problem solve.

Now, in their infinitesimal understanding of the academic universe, MAGAt Mike Braun and his ReTrumplican't cohorts want to create "academic trade schools".

They want only subject courses rotely taught to prepare students for the "jobs of the future".

They know this because upon election they magically gained superior knowledge of everything, even the knowledge needed of the future!!!*

Arrogance mixed with power does not bode well for the general citizenry.

Which we are witnessing daily via MAGAt Mike's cult leader, Darn'Old Drumpf, King of Dementia-Felonia.

So glad to see that the Commission for Lower Education is taking such a hare line to destroy our State and punish the kids that only want to better the live of themselves and the community. Combined with the destruction that it is doing in the elementary and high school levels, we won't need to worry about Higher Ed anymore. Thanks Mike!!!

Among the degree programs getting the axe is:

"Bachelor’s in design and production, suspending with teach-out toward elimination."

Got any clarification? What field of study?

That's what was listed by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. Purdue has not responded to questions.
