Arguing that parents Michael and Kristine Barnett manipulated the legal system “to both facilitate the criminal neglect of their child and to cover it up,” the state attorney general’s office this week asked the Indiana Supreme Court to take up a case accusing the parents of abandoning their adopted daughter in a Lafayette apartment and moving to Canada.
