LAFAYETTE LOOKS TO JOIN WL ON AIRBNB BAN PROPOSAL IN SINGLE-FAMILY NEIGHBORHOODS
West Lafayette’s push to stop the spread of Airbnb- and Vrbo-style short-term rentals in single-family neighborhoods has been more than plain in the past year, with the mayor, school board and homeowners issuing statements or pleading at marathon zoning meetings not to grant the special exceptions that clear the way for any more in a city struggling with a housing shortage.
The West Lafayette City Council was a unanimous vote behind asking for a proposed ban on new short-term rentals in single-family zones, heading for its first hearing Tuesday before the Area Plan Commission.
Last week, Lafayette asked to be in the mix.
