Some potential blockbuster development news is starting to emerge in West Lafayette’s downtown and Levee area.
In play:
New ownership for Chauncey Hill Mall at the top of State Street hill, where two other large-scale redevelopment plans have faltered in the past six years on the prime piece of ground so close to Purdue’s campus.
A major – and long-rumored – redevelopment plan for the northeast corner of the State Street and River Road intersection, which would mean relocation plans for some local favorites and would mark the beginning of a grid street plan called for in the Levee area in West Lafayette’s three-year-old downtown plan.
And a proposed hotel on Brown Street, near Levee Plaza.
“A lot happening, that’s for sure,” Ryan O’Gara, assistant director of the Area Plan Commission, said. “Big, big stuff.”
