FIRE DESTROYS THREE NEIGHBORING HOMES, DAMAGES TWO MORE
What sparked an early morning fire Wednesday that destroyed three homes and damaged two more in a neighborhood just east of Lafayette hadn’t been determined as of the end of the day.
One resident was taken to a hospital in Indianapolis for smoke inhalation and another was taken for treatment for a medical issue, but no other injuries were reported in a fire called in to Lafayette firefighters at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 5200 block of Wilmington Circle.
On the scene, Todd Trent, an LFD inspector, said he didn’t expect a quick answer Wednesday on the cause. He said that included knowing which house was on fire first and how the flames spread. He said he hoped to speak with residents and neighbors to get more details. Later in the day, the fire department asked that anyone with information or home video could contact Trent at 765-807-1616.
