A front continued Monday night, two months into the tenure of recently elected Lafayette school board member Chuck Hockema.
A line of parents of LGBTQ students and allies of LGBTQ teachers, speaking at times directly to Hockema, used public comment time during LSC’s monthly meeting to urge school board members not to back away from supporting students and teachers and being careful not to buy into conversations – or policies – that would marginalize what they called an already vulnerable population in schools.
