‘Live Greater,’ scene by scene
Released last week, ‘Live Expansively. Live Greater. Live Greater Lafayette’ marketing video has been making the rounds. Here’s a scene-by-scene look. Who knows, you might be in it.

Did you make the final cut of “Live Expansively. Live Greater. Live Greater Lafayette,” the latest video meant to market the community?
Released last week by the Greater Lafayette Marketing Coalition, the 2½-minute production from mother-son team of Angie and Jack Klink squeezes 103 clips into a little over 150 seconds for a video that quickly started making the rounds on social media after it debuted last Monday.
If you haven’t seen it, who knows, you could, in fact, be in there. (Check the shot-by-shot footnotes below.)
“I am so proud to say that every single shot was shot in Greater Lafayette, and every single person in every shot is a real person who lives, works and/or goes to school here,” Jack Klink, a Lafayette Jeff grad who runs JacKlink Productions in Los Angeles, said.
Michelle Brantley, vice president of marketing for Greater Lafayette Commerce, said the project is part of a larger effort to attract talent and business to the community.
“As of today, 2,500 new jobs will be created by 2027 – 1,500 of those will be in the next two years,” Brantley said. “Simply put, we need to attract more people to move here. We want to show them what it’s like to work, play and belong in Greater Lafayette.”
That assignment went to Jack Klink for the visuals and Angie Klink for the narrative.
Jack Klink said the rapid-fire collection of visuals started in June 2022, with a couple of shots of the light show artists Esteban Garcia Bravo, Aaron Zernack and Max Carlson pulled together on the sides of the Tippecanoe County Courthouse for the Taste of Tippecanoe.
From there, he said, he and a crew spent weeks and months attending Purdue Convos shows, Civic Theatre, assorted festivals, assembly lines, labs, Purdue’s campus, restaurants, ball games, parks …
“For this project, we shot first, then did almost everything later,” Jack Klink said. “The most challenging part of the editing process was deciding which shots to use and which to leave on the cutting room floor. There are entire shoots we planned and shot from which we didn’t use a single frame. I had to be very, very picky because the video could not be too long, and there is so much going on in this community, it could’ve been half an hour long.”
HERE’S AN EASY WAY TO SHARE TODAY’S EDITION OF BASED IN LAFAYETTE.
IF SUBSCRIBING SOUNDS RIGHT, RIGHT ABOUT NOW …
And the story they wanted to tell?
“The power of place,” Angie Klink said. “Those are the first words of the video with Jack’s sweeping Wabash River drone shot. Our community is amenity-rich, with art, sporting events, restaurants, parks, trails, festivals and more. Our people are friendly and supportive. Life is affordable, and the schools are outstanding. All that is wonderful about Greater Lafayette is lifted up with artistic, flowing cinematography and a script to match. It’s more than a ‘video.’ ‘Live Expansively. Live Greater. Live Greater Lafayette’ is cinema.”
