LSC FINALIZES ‘THREE-TIER’ SCHEDULE WITH NEW START TIMES NEXT SCHOOL YEAR
Lafayette schools will, in fact, shuffle start and dismissal times next academic year, after scrapping a similar plan last year and spending the past seven months coming up with ways to deal with a persistent bus driver shortage.
The LSC school board voted unanimously Monday evening on a three-tier schedule that will have high school and junior high students starting 20 minutes earlier, elementary students in school 35 minutes more each day and Sunnyside Intermediate School pushed back a full hour.
“We understand that nothing we did was going to make everyone happy,” Bob Stwalley, a school board member, said.
