LSC PULLS PLUG ON EDGELEA, SUNNYSIDE CLASS AFTER INVESTIGATION THAT INCLUDED DCS

Lafayette schools ended a foreign language class offered at an elementary and intermediate school this week after looking into parents’ calls to investigate unfair treatment and inappropriate conduct in the classroom.

LSC Superintendent Les Huddle said Monday night that the teacher was still employed with the district, as of that time. But he said there were enough concerns he called “credible” – including those surfacing from an investigation done by LSC officials and by outside agencies, including the Department of Child Services – to cancel the remainder of the classes offered to high-ability students at Edgelea Elementary and Sunnyside Intermediate School.
