With an autopsy scheduled for Monday afternoon, the investigation continues into the death of Jacob Moneus, a 3-month-old boy first reported in a statewide Silver Alert as abducted Saturday before being found Sunday by Lafayette police in an apartment on Lexington Court. Police arrested Elisard Moneus, 28, of the 2500 block of Lexington Court in Lafayette, and he was being held on suspicion of domestic battery that sent Jacob’s mother to a hospital Saturday. According to his listing at Tippecanoe County Jail Sunday, he was being held on suspicion of attempted murder. The search for the baby started at that point.
J&C reporters Jillian Ellison and Ron Wilkins had more details of the police investigation, including how police found the boy after a second search of the apartment, here: “Missing Lafayette 3-month-old Jacob Moneus found dead; father in custody.”
