In a move signaled weeks ago in court, one of the West Lafayette residents suing to overturn rezoning of land in West Lafayette for a $3.87 billion semiconductor facility by SK hynix filed a motion for a formal hearing to stop construction activity that started north of Kalberer Road in late February.
In a filing Monday in Tippecanoe Circuit Court, the attorney for Lora Williams – a West Lafayette resident behind one of two lawsuits looking to reverse a May 2025 city council decision to rezone the land – asked for a permanent injunction on any construction on 121 acres in the Purdue Research Park that doesn’t fit the original single-family zoning designation.
The motion also asked for a summary judgment in the case filed in June 2025 against the city, South Korean-based SK hynix and Purdue Research Foundation, arguing that an Area Plan Commission legal notice that advertised the rezoning process in 2025 was insufficient and should nullify the process leading to the city council’s eventual and controversial vote for the rezoning.
