WEST LAFAYETTE REFINES POTENTIAL LAYOUT OF GRID STREETS IN THE LEVEE AREA
West Lafayette this week refined the guidebook for a grid street layout for the Levee area, between Tapawingo Drive, River Road and the Harrison Bridge, first contemplated and laid out in the city’s 2020 downtown land use plan.
The updated downtown traffic study, presented Wednesday to the West Lafayette Redevelopment Commission, shows a series of potential streets that would divvy up the commercial areas north and south of State Street to create one- to two-acre blocks more akin to a downtown area instead of large, strip center parking lots.
The study done by consultants Kimley Horn also considers future changes to on- and off-ramps on Harrison Bridge, including a roundabout on the West Lafayette side of the span.
