PRO-PALESTINE DEMONSTRATORS TAKE DOWN ENCAMPMENT ON DAY 12 AT PURDUE
STANDOFF OVER CEASEFIRE RESOLUTION CONTINUES, ENDS IN SHOUTS AT WL CITY COUNCIL LATER THAT NIGHT
On the 12th day of demonstrating on Purdue grounds, joining students on other U.S. campuses calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and pushing for university divestment in support of military means for Israel, students on Monday took down tents and disassembled 2-by-4 lumber used to carry pro-Palestinian banners and messages along Memorial Mall.
Student leaders said they would continue to press the university and the community on the issue in the coming months.
And they started that Monday evening by marching to West Lafayette City Hall to get the city council to take up a resolution in favor of a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas – something the city council declined to do for a third consecutive month in a meeting that ended in angry jeers.
