SCENES FROM THE FAIR
With the Tippecanoe County 4-H Fair hitting its midweek stride, I had Lafayette photographer Vincent Walter head over and capture some of the scenes at the county fairgrounds. Here’s some of what he found.
- Mero Huffer, 11, with his cat Jenny, congratulates Annabel Smith, 11, and her cat Pippin, which won best of show short hair, in the cat judging Friday morning at the Tippecanoe County 4-H Fair.
Wyatte Miller's turn in a wheelbarrow is over Saturday as Cade Cox and Karter Kruger dump him out. They are all in the Tippecanoe County Mini 4-H program.
Addison Quinton pets her goat Mykia before entering the show ring on Saturday.
Marya Farrell, 2022 Tippecanoe County 4-H Fair Queen, exercises one of her Berkshire swine on Sunday. She doesn't name her pigs; she says it's easier to sell them when they aren't named. Marya is attending Butler University in the fall to major in pharmacy.
Margaret Lindemann's llama, Hunny, lands after an unexpected jump in the show ring on Sunday. Margaret is a member of the Sunshine 4-H Club and is in ninth grade.
Isaac Dristol adjusts the throttle on his 1966 Cub Cadet lawn tractor before Sunday's tractor parade. He secured the reserve champion prize in the tractor driving competition, he is also exhibiting a Lego project and poultry in the 4-H fair.
The Tippecanoe County 4-H Fair court lead the antique tractor parade on Sunday afternoon. The cart is being pulled by a well-restored International tractor.
Allie Neumayr participated in the speed and action riding competition on Sunday. She placed fourth in her division.
Jaycob Lohmeyer takes a breath during the pie eating competition on Sunday. He was confident he won, but after the remainder of contestants' pies were weighed he finished well behind the appetite of Kenzie Sheets (photo below), who received the winner's trophy from Emily Brown, first runner up 4-H fair princess. Lohmeyer brought a dairy cow to the fair and participated in shooting. Sheets has a rabbit in the fair.
IF YOU GO: The Tippecanoe County 4-H Fair continues today the fairgrounds on Teal Road. For hours, ride schedules and show times, here’s a link to the schedule, running today through Saturday, July 23: https://tippe4hfair.org/2022/schedule/

These photos are superb. The smile on the champion pie-eater's face is priceless. Thanks, Vince.
