Just a few notes on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, highlighting a couple of the events in Greater Lafayette marking the holiday.
11 a.m. Monday: The Tippecanoe County Public Library will move back home for its annual tribute to King, after a socially distanced event at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in 2022. The event, free and featuring speakers and songs, starts at 11 a.m. in the McAllister Meeting Rooms at the downtown library, 627 South St., in Lafayette. More details are below.
7 p.m. Tuesday: The Morgan State University Choir of Baltimore will perform at Loeb Playhouse in Purdue’s Stewart Center during the university’s annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. The event also will feature performances by the Purdue Black Voices of Inspiration and the Purdue Varsity Glee Club, along with remarks by Purdue President Mung Chiang. Admission is free, though online registration is recommended.
