STALLED ASCENSION ST. VINCENT ‘MICRO-HOSPITAL’ PLANS AT PURDUE APPARENTLY OVER: It might have been a backward way to make the announcement, but a presentation Friday from Purdue President Mung Chiang about the sudden upswing in hospitals and dedicated emergency rooms in and around West Lafayette tipped off the apparent end of what initially was the first plan for a West Side hospital.

Plans for a micro-hospital from Indianapolis-based Ascension St. Vincent, announced in 2022 in Purdue’s Discovery Park District on the western edge of campus, was conspicuously missing from a map Chiang showed to university trustees during a presentation about the campus’ One Health initiative’s progress.
