3 STEPS DOWN, ONE COURT HEARING TO GO ON FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE’S TERM

Taletha Coles will have one last shot to persuade someone that she should be allowed to remain Fairfield Township trustee until Dec. 31, when her term ends.

The Tippecanoe County Council – the third stop in a four-step process laid out earlier this year by the state legislature to oust township officials – wasted little time Tuesday morning, voting unanimously that Coles needs to be removed for neglecting her duties and allegations that she used township funds to buy a consignment shop fox stole, household goods, spa treatments, dining and other personal goods.

“Thank you to all those who took the time to make sure this time has come,” Barry Richard, one of seven county council members, said before the vote. “Too bad we couldn’t have done it earlier.”
