Jennifer Rae Teising, the former Wabash Township trustee suing for backpay after being ousted from the job, late last week asked a judge to reconsider a ruling in late December that her allegations of defamation came too late to be included in a lawsuit seeking as much as $820,000.

In a Jan. 2 filing, Teising – representing herself in the case – argued that Tippecanoe Circuit Judge Sean Persin’s ruling dismissing defamation claims exposed a Catch-22 situation that left her little time to file civil claims against township officials, past and present, she claims conspired with local media, politicians and others on a narrative that led to criminal charges and her ouster from office in 2022.
