A dozen centuries ago, Sanctuary was protected in English common law. Basically the king deferred to church authority in this area. Our first amendment stopped this, restoring secular control. Now that the courts have started privileging the free exercise of religion over other rights, I wonder if a legal argument for sanctuary could be made by a sufficiently motivated and well-heeled denomination? Episcopalians do not have infinite money (unlike the Mormons), but they could afford an effort consistent with the clear moral and ethical principles Bishop Budde confronted Orange Julius Caesar with. Trumpified evangelicals cannot admit that his executive orders have nothing to do with WWJD? so someone else needs to make the case, literally, for Christian principles.

Power, Little, Little & Little has got to be the funniest name of a law office… 🤣

What did you expect when you re-elected megalomaniac Todd rokita? Now you deal with him! I hope those arrested or deported are people who mow your lawn, clean your house, wash dishes at your favorite restaurant, or serve you food, or care for your children, as you deserve to suffer the consequences of hurting those who provide services to YOU.

Or might they see how expensive these services become and say "thanks Obama!" MAGA types are soft, cowardly, and selfish, and think they fully deserve their placid lives, no matter what it costs anyone else.

I don’t think we should be complaining that we are losing the cheap labor that illegal immigrants provide. Sounds a bit like plantation owners complaining they can’t hold free labor.

Nurse perspective. NO ICE arrests in HOSPITALS!

Suppose ICE comes into the hospital/church/school to arrest a human and there is violent confrontation. These shock and awe tactics are making all 3 sacred places less safe for everyone there. These "unneeded arrests" are unnecessary and should not be allowed to start because they endanger other humans.

I see ICE being violent. Maybe irresponsible with weapons. I don't have faith that these agents will act professionally.

Hospitalized patients are sometimes confused or bedbound because of illness, medications, various reasons. ICE is not equipped to care for hospitalized patients. I hope a judge strikes this order down.

The Steaming Pile of Rokita is at it again.

His MAGAt brain seems to forget that Conservatives used to believe in less government interference.

Seems that the new Conservative ReTrumplican'ts can't get enough of sticking their noses into the lives of the public that doesn't support their POV.

And schools. SCHOOLS. Where we try to protect kids, not terrify them.

"House Bill 1393, which already passed out of committee this week, would require law enforcement officers to notify their county sheriff if they arrest someone for a felony or a misdemeanor and have probable cause to believe that person is not legally allowed in the U.S. " Not convicted. Not even tried. Just arrested. You know where this is going, right? Racists will be able to accuse people of crimes whether or not they have committed them. They can then be arrested and deported, without due process.
