TEISING, WABASH TOWNSHIP STILL ‘GALAXIES’ APART ON BACKPAY SETTLEMENT

With questions still swirling about what Wabash Township owes Jennifer Rae Teising, former township trustee, in backpay and legal fees after a criminal conviction that drove her out of office was overturned, Tippecanoe Circuit Court Judge Sean Persin wanted to know Thursday morning just how far apart the two were after a court-appointed mediator reported last month that talks were unsuccessful.

“Did we get anywhere in the ballpark of trying to resolve this?” Persin asked during a status hearing in a case that has been lingering since June 2025.

“My understanding is we’re really far apart,” Ryan Sterling, an attorney for Wabash Township, told the judge.

“Galaxies,” Teising said.

“Galaxies?” Persin asked. “Well, that tells me what I need to know.”
