WEST LAFAYETTE BUYS ROBERT PULLEY CERAMIC SCULPTURES FROM ‘ART CRAWL’
Three of the seven large ceramic pieces by Columbus-based artist Robert Pulley, installed in spring 2024 as part of an Art Museum of Greater Lafayette “Art Crawl,” will stay in West Lafayette.
The West Lafayette Redevelopment Commission agreed Wednesday to spend up to $50,000 for three of the sculptures, in an agreement brokered through the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette.
“West Lafayette is having an art moment,” Jen Van Schuyver, the city’s development director, said, noting the sculpture purchase and the recent unveiling of Purdue’s collection of work by impressionist artist Edgar Degas.
The three works by Pulley – installed in April and May at West Lafayette City Hall (“Ascending”), Tapawingo Park (“Cascade”) and at the Brown Street overlook in the Levee area (“Twister”) – will stay where they are, according to the plan laid out for the redevelopment commission.
