SB202, a ‘win’ or a disaster for higher ed depending on who you ask, heads to the governor. Yo-Yo Ma announced for September date at Purdue. Indiana’s public access counselor targeted by Senate move
The whole executive and legislative branches in Indy have turned hard right over the last year. Perhaps they're worried about losing the super-majority and want to pass as much legislation as possible before they're voted out. Indiana used to have a centrist dominated government. Those days are over what with Rokita and Deery's BS and Holcomb, of all people, spending taxpayer money to send Indiana National Guard troops to Texas. The lunatics are out of the closet.
Delaware. My wife got a job offer from the University of Delaware she couldn't refuse. We've actually been here since last August. We live about two miles from Joe Biden. I've tried to schedule a meeting with him and Hunter to discuss some business opportunities in Beijing, but neither are returning my calls.
And also: Good luck to you as you attempt to deal with that steaming bag of poo Spencer Deery left at your door. I actually read through the bill yesterday: Even though it doesn't affect me, or my wife, in any way, it still made me want to hurt him.
Not yet. Sadly, the local newspaper is a Gannet publication that looks and reads just like the Journal & Courier -- which means that if a "Bangert" doesn't exist, I may have to invent him or her. On the other hand. Delaware and Wilmington are both Democratic strongholds, so state and local politics seem pretty sane and boring. I need a daily dose of the infuriating and insane to feel alive, so I'll probably keep my finger on the pulse of Indiana for a while, or until my head explodes, whichever comes first.
The only good thing about the Gannett papers is you can usually use a subscription to one to access all - just change the main name in the URL (e.g. indystar) to the one to which you have a sub (jconline) and you can read the article. Wouldn't want you missing your regular dose of Ron Wilkins!
Anytime the government limits public information to the people, there is a reason. Government is doing something tricky and do not want you the public to know about it, until it is too late to change
To answer Zach Baiel’s “why now” question regarding the limitations to the Public Access Counselor’s role:
One can’t be certain, but this does seem to coincide with the ramp-up of interest in the IEDC (Indiana Economic Development Corp, responsible for LEAP, among other initiatives). Specifically regarding how much of the IEDC work seems to have been done “under the radar”, prompting statewide calls for more transparency from the IEDC and related entities.
Neutering the mechanism to support such transparency will help the IEDC keep the citizens in the dark.
What % of 3rd graders are going to be retained? How many have already been retained? What kind of classroom support and remedial aide did these kids receive? You legislators did NOT give these kids the extra teachers and staff they needed to develop the skills to succeed. It is no surprise that these kids are from families that are poor and parents are uneducated. But YOU legislators do NOT CARE about this population. And what about the kid’s? Do you care about the damage to their self esteem? How would you feel if this were your child or grandchild who was going to be FLUNKED?
To vegan, you lucky dog! Please go to Bethany beach and walk the boardwalk for me. And stop at candy kitchen and buy the caramels covered in dark chocolate, the best in the world.
Vote only for democrats! Start thinking NOW how we get rid of deery in ‘26, if not before. What will be next on Daniels agenda? Holcomb, the rubber stamp can find a place to hide with all the tricks he has pulled. He must not have children or grandchildren to leave the state in worse condition than when he took office. And rokita is a disgrace as a Hoosier .

With each passing second, I become happier about leaving Indiana for good.
What state did you select as a better roost, and when do you head out?

Blessings. Have you found your "Bangert" in Delaware? It's lovely you stay in touch with us.

Regarding the public access counselor: of course the legislators do not want you to know lots of their plans for us, example the LEAP PROJECT.
