“Irish Spring” with Impressaria Winds Quintet, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, Rat Pak Venue, 102 N. Third St., Lafayette — The ultimate St. Patrick’s Day pregame, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra principal horn player Sharon Weyser will bring back her Impressaria Winds Quintet to perform a set of Celtic-inspired music. The quintet features bassoon, flute, oboe and clarinet with Weyser’s horn, and the central Indiana musicians will be joined by a guitarist and bassist to fill out the sound in order to perform “Celtic Scents Suite” by Kazimierz Machala as well as some original Celtic-style tunes. The concert is part of the LSO’s B-Side Series where musicians have the freedom to show off contemporary music projects and styles they don’t get to play when on the Long Center for the Perform Arts stage. $15. New gallery exhibitions reception, 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 7, The Arts Federation, 638 North St., Lafayette — Artists as young as kindergarten will take over The Arts Federation’s trio of galleries for the annual Youth Art Month exhibit, which will run through March 28. Hundreds of local school children will get to see their colorful works hung on same walls as professional artists’ works. This show should kickstart many passions and potential careers in visual arts.
“New Artists Exhibit,” Saturday, March 8-April 13, Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, 102 S. 10th St., Lafayette — Greater Lafayette’s top teen artists will present their latest at the 46th annual “New Artists Exhibit” at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette. This juried show has been home to dozens of future professional artists over the decades, and the 2025 should have some more potential pro painters, sculptors and photographers in the mix. The event is hosted by the Art League and pieces were selected by a panel of local high school art teachers and juried by some of those talents that have become professional artists. Out of the hundreds of pieces in the show, 84 will be awarded and split the $7,500 in prize money.
Spin Class with DJs CC, LIOT and yum.yum, 9 p.m. Saturday, March 8, The Spot Tavern , 409 S. Fourth St., Lafayette — A special Saturday night sweat will be yours on The Spot dance floor with the return of Lafayette’s own CC on the decks, spinning her best beats for the latest edition of Spin Class dance nights. Headlining will be LIOT from Cincinnati, a young producer specializing in garage house and 2-step music, and yum.yum, a dubstep duo from Indianapolis. The young DJs’ latest track, “Midnight Haze,” is full of that patented dubstep “WONKWONKWONKWONK!” Check them out! $10 or pay what you can.
“Schubert Lieder and Selections from the American Songbook,” 4 p.m. Sunday, March 9, St. John’s Episcopal Church, 600 Ferry St., Lafayette — Women in history and the arts will receive tuneful tribute in the Tippecanoe Chamber Music Society’s next concert. Pianist Sam Jones will accompany baritone singer Jared Hancock and mezzo-soprano Audrey Johnson as they perform selections from the “Great American Songbook,” a loose collection of American jazz, pop and showtunes. The trio will also take on Franz Schubert’s lieder, a collection of songs that go back to the 19th century composer’s days in the Vienna Boys Choir. $15, free for students. Tickets.
