“Evaleen Stein” with Angie Klink, 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, The History Center, 522 Columbia St., Lafayette — Celebrate Women’s History Month with local author and historian Angie Klink and her presentation on prolific Lafayette author Evaleen Stein, a late-19th century and early-20th century writer who produced 300 poems, three books and 13 children’s novels. Many of the works were republished overseas and translated into Italian and Japanese, a rarity for any author at the time but especially for a Hoosier woman. Stein was also quite the center of attention in Lafayette when she wasn’t penning works like “Child Songs of Cheer” and “Our Little Norman Cousin of Long Ago.” Much of the Stein family were writers as well, and Evaleen had talents for drawing too. Learn about Stein’s many talents and what life was like 100-plus years ago for a creative, talented and successful woman in Lafayette. This event is presented by the Tippecanoe County Historical Association.
Peach Pit, 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, Elliott Hall of Music, Purdue University — The Purdue Student Concert Committee presents another sweet show in Peach Pit, a Canadian act that has revealed itself as a music festival favorite, having displayed its catchy indie pop to thousands at Bonnaroo, Sea Hear Now Festival, All Things Go Festival and many others. Peach Pit will continue its tour on its latest album, “From 2 to 3,” in front of thousands more. With Purdue students fresh from spring break and ready to rock, old Elliott Hall should be energized. $25-$42. Tickets.

Kronos Quartet, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, Loeb Playhouse, Purdue University – Here’s a bonus track, via Purdue Convocations: While Peach Pit is at Elliott, Kronos Quartet will make its Purdue appearance on its Five Decades Tour at Loeb Playhouse, just a short walk away. The groundbreaking classical group had to postpone this show last fall, with the new date landing minutes apart from the show on the other side of campus. Tickets.
Unrestricted with DJs Powder and Sunn, 10 p.m. Thursday, March 21, Rat Pak Venue, 102 N. Third St., Lafayette — There was recent drama in the Neon Cactus DJ booth, according to reports from The Exponent, which left former house DJ Endy with some damaged equipment. Less than two weeks after the incident, a couple of colleagues will offer a hand via their own slamming beats. Lafayette DJs Powder and Sunn will spin some hardcore hip-hop while raising funds for Endy while his set-up gets repairs. $5. 18-and-up.
Sweet Megg, 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, People’s Brewing Company, 2006 N. Ninth St., Lafayette — Western swing was popularized by the legendary Bob Wills, and it continues generations later with young Nashville, Tennessee, singer Sweet Megg. Backed by a stellar band, Sweet Megg deftly combines country and jazz for the sound first made famous by Wills and his Texas Playboys but with her own twists — sort of a “hillbilly jazz.” Megg is currently touring in support of her new album, “Bluer than Blue.” $12 in advance, $15 day of show. Tickets.

I wonder, if it's not too far off brand, if Tim might one weekend include Top 10 Unexpected day trips from Greater Lafayette? So, ruling out the obvious like "Chicago."
