WABASH TOWNSHIP LOOKS AT $4.8M EXPANSION, AS STATEHOUSE CONSIDERS TOWNSHIP CONSOLIDATION

As the Indiana General Assembly hashes out details of a bill that could consolidate hundreds of the 1,000-plus townships across the state, Wabash Township approved a bond issue to pay for an expansion of offices, a food pantry and fire department space expected to cost $4.8 million.

The Wabash Township Board on Tuesday night authorized a 10-year bond issue of up to $5.5 million to build a two-floor, 11,000-square-foot facility on the east side of the township’s property at 2899 Klondike Road, just west of West Lafayette.

Construction could start as soon as March, with work finishing in early 2027, the board was told.

“The reality is, as our township grows, we’re looking to grow with it,” Angel Valentin, Wabash Township trustee, said after the vote.
