Update, Nov. 6: Wabash Township Trustee Jennifer Teising set a one-hour town hall for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, via Zoom to talk about future funding of the township fire department. How happy was the Wabash Township Board about meeting at the last minute Saturday to push a 2022 budget out the door that didn’t, in their eyes, come up with a way to solve fire protection just west of West Lafayette?
How did Angel Valentin, board president, put it: “It’s a pretty shitty position to be in.”
But after close to three hours of back-and-forth with Trustee Jennifer Teising – including board members calling her incompetent, suggesting she resign on the spot and periodically waving in disgust as the trustee argued from a Zoom link about the process – the three board members signed off on a nearly $900,000 spending plan for 2022.
