RESTITUTION TAKES SHAPE, AS HEARING LOOMS FOR TALETHA COLES, FORMER FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE
Taletha Coles, former Fairfield Township trustee, came to terms on a list of things – from meals to spa days, an erroneous paycheck to legal bills – that she will pay back to the township and to the Indiana State Department of Revenue, according to a restitution report filed Wednesday in Tippecanoe Superior Court 1.
All totaled, Coles and prosecutors told the court that they had agreed to $18,667.67 in restitution tied to her guilty plea on four of 42 initial criminal counts of tax exemption fraud, conflict of interest and official misconduct between 2019 and 2022, when she was township trustee.
Still outstanding, according to the court filing, is $24,144.74 that the two sides need a judge to help settle, stemming from purchases from township accounts at a Lafayette consignment business and for motivational and personal development websites and trainings she contended were as good as anything she could have received from Purdue.
