Where to vote, candidate Q&As and more. Plus, $3.1M project at and near rail crossing will close South Street for 4 to 6 weeks this summer. And Purdue’s $95M haul at Wednesday's Day of Giving.
;Hello all readers of BIL, my wife and I found all the necessary political candidate interviews through this site. I believe we cast one of our more informed votes earlier this week based on our research made possible by the posting of ALL of those interviews. Thanks to Dave and whoever else helped him.
I'm in my mid forties and have lived here in Lafayette most of my life. And I can say, I do not remember ever seeing a train cross South Street by the post office. But I guess they use it as per the article...
And while I know it isn't all for the rail crossing, $31 million is an awful lot of money. This from a guy who has actually done the ankle-twisting walk to that post office.
It was not here, but I have had a couple of surprise 2 am encounters with a train using a similar urban-industrial crossing. I'm fairly sure the majority were not hallucinations. All made me reassess that evening's choices.
Not on topic, but wanted to express my sadness (and make sure local readers know) that this is apparently Ethan Hanson's last week with the J&C. He's done such a great job with high school sports reporting and I'm sad to see him go. I hope he's leaving of his own volition for another gig, and not just another casualty of the perpetually shrinking J&C.
