WEST LAFAYETTE COUNTRY CLUB HOUSING PROPOSAL JUST PART OF PACKED NIGHT FOR APC
Expect a packed night and likely a full house for the monthly Area Plan Commission meeting Wednesday, when several land-use proposals – in some cases, controversial – are on tap for some high-profile pieces of property in Greater Lafayette.
Here’s a preview of a few:
AT THE FORMER WEST LAFAYETTE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB: The West Lafayette Golf and Country Club, once known as the Elks, closed on April 1, after decades as a golf course and 11 years under current ownership. In letters to golfers in early 2025, owners said that the number of the country club’s supporters was “too small for the numbers to work.” Since then, the gates along U.S. 52, near County Road 300 West, have been locked.
Up now is a proposal that would rezone the 66 acres from agricultural use to single-family residential zoning, which would accommodate at conceptual subdivision plan with 309 houses. The request is for R1B zoning, which allows higher-density single-family lots.
