FINAL WORD ON WL PARKS PLAN THAT REACHES BEYOND CITY LIMITS GOES TO CITY COUNCIL
After a month of thinking things over, Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission remained uneasy about the idea of West Lafayette drawing maps of potential trails and future parks on property outside the current city limits and on ground where landowners hadn’t been given a heads up.
The APC, a 17-member body that makes initial recommendations on zoning and other land use matters, stalled on a West Lafayette Parks and Open Space plan in May, after developers questioned whether it amounted to the city overreaching its authority.
After a pair of public hearings in June, the APC sent the 67-page report to the city with a recommendation to peel out everything outside the city limits.
The West Lafayette City Council will get the final say Monday.
