WEST SIDE PROJECTS ADVANCE
Here’s some movement on a handful of big parks, fire department and public art projects on the West Side, as outlined Wednesday by the West Lafayette Redevelopment Commission:
Cason Family Park plans: The commission agreed to work with a group of firms – GM Development, R.L. Turner and White Construction – to help set the scope for Cason Family Park on Cumberland Avenue. The group will meet with city staff to come up with designs and a proposed guaranteed maximum project price to develop the park. The final price, designs and timeline would need to be approved by the redevelopment commission at a future meeting. (City officials have not made the cost estimate public, so far.) Kathy Lozano, West Lafayette parks superintendent, said the goal was to break ground in spring 2023, with the park opening sometime in 2024.
