WL school board comes together in the end, moves referendum to November ballot
Vote comes days after a tense session meant to smooth some of the friction on the West Side school board. Here’s what you can expect on November’s ballot

WEST LAFAYETTE SCHOOL BOARD COMES TOGETHER IN THE END, MOVES REFERENDUM TO NOVEMBER BALLOT

An audible sigh of relief could be heard from within a crowd of approximately 30 people gathered at Monday night’s meeting of the West Lafayette Community School Corp. school board, as members voted in favor of putting a referendum – the third of its kind for the district since 2010 – on the ballot in November.
The board, the administration and a majority of those in attendance seemed to agree that the continued revenue from the referendum levy would be essential to the future success of the district, which has been named near the top of state and national public education rankings in recent years but ranks 288 out of 290 school districts for the amount of state funding support per pupil.
The final vote came more than an hour into the meeting, following public comments and a failed motion supported by two board members to add language to the referendum.
