I'm a Johnny-Come-Lately to West Lafayette and completely agree with Chad's reasoning about the greater Lafayette community.
Having previously lived on both coasts, I experienced being downsized and on the wrong side of a merger.
It's not easy, but Chad obviously has the right attitude toward the reality.
Too many colleagues with whom I shared the experience were bitter and hateful. That doesn't help whatsoever.
Chad's personality, intelligence, creativity, and fortitude will be the foundation for his next phase of professional life.
Since he already created new skills to work at home due to Covid, Chad seems positioned to create his own weather service...akin to Dave's community reportage.
Chad, In all my years of watching many meteorologists on TV, you are the very best. What's the point of watching TV18 without you? Best wishes in you teaching endeavors.
Great coverage Dave, so glad to have Based in Lafayette to learn the real news.
Chad, so glad you're doing a planned jump rather than being surprisedly pushed out by an uncaring corporate owner. You will be missed.
Now we will have 2 stations in greater lafayette, owned and managed far from their local audience, that don't serve the needs of the local people. Our household never has watched the newer station, and will now never watch old, tired 18.
Allen Media has made a big mistake. I thought they were a better media company that would support local news. But Allen Media is just another corporate company with a profit drive to end local news. I'm sad I ever supported them.
Thanks for all of your years delivering the news, Chad. I grew up watching Bob Gregory and Chuck Lofton in Indy, and you are definitely on par with them - one of the best! We'll miss seeing you on tv.
Whether it's Byron Allen or Gannett, the loser is Greater Lafayette. Corporate ownership is tearing apart the guardrails for the people who now have no one to speak for them when government overrreaches or is infected by corruption. I can't wait for "Al from Atlanta" to warn us that a tornado is bearing down on Montmorenci and West Lafayette.
Chad, I am so glad that you are planning on staying in the area! Hopefully I will meet you someday enjoying nature! No more need to ever watch WLFI. Good days ahead for you and your family.
NOTE: the link to the weather blog offers a 404 page.
Chad, thanks for the dedication and hard work.
Dave, thanks for this interview.
Lafayette is a better place with Chad and his family in it.
Hope Chad reads these comments.

Thanks for a great job, selling out our local news was a major catastrophe for our area, greed is rampant at the corporate level.

Chad: you’re a gem, and our family has both enjoyed watching and appreciated your dedication. Best of luck on the next step!
Chad's blog and forecast were always my first checks before heading to Lafayette. I hope Eric will still be on.
