WL’s ‘Jeopardy’ champ, as 15-game reign ends: ‘Amazing’ time
Purdue archivist Adriana Harmeyer finishes her run at No. 11 on all-time win chart on ‘Jeopardy.’ She says: ‘I've had a lot of people rooting for me, and I am just honored by that, really.’
The run on “Jeopardy” for Adriana Harmeyer – a Purdue archivist, West Lafayette resident and 15-win “Jeopardy” champion – came to an end Wednesday, after three weeks on the TV quiz show that placed her at No. 11 on the all-time victory chart.
“I knew it was coming,” Harmeyer said, after watching an episode taped weeks ago, in which Drew Basile, a graduate student from Birmingham, Michigan, won.
“And I’m OK,” Harmeyer said. “I think that I was able to do something pretty great and got to enjoy it while it lasted.”
Since her first win, airing May 29, Harmeyer racked up a big resume on the show. She qualified for the show’s “Tournament of Champions” after her fifth win. A week ago, Harmeyer became just the 17th contestant in the past 21 years to win at least 10 games on the show, according to The Jeopardy! Fan site. (Before September 2003, “Jeopardy” champions had to tap out after five wins.)
