Candidates for mayor and city council on both sides of the Wabash River weigh in on the Indiana Economic Development Corp.’s plans to tap-and-take millions of gallons of Tippecanoe Co. water a day
The right answer is that we should NOT ALLOW the state to take ANY water from the Wabash/Teays aquifers and transfer it to other parts of the state. This would set a dangerous precedent that the IEDC could replicate in other areas. It's not as if they want the water because actual people are dying of thirst. They want it to make money for certain parties.
What they should be doing is finding ways for the central part of the state to use less water, recycle more water, and recharge the aquifers that are there. And place huge developments in places that need and want development, that HAVE the water resources to support it.
