Say what you will about Copenhaver but she's the epitome of the Republican Party, a party that believes Republican politicians should choose which voters count rather than voters choosing which politicians win. Deery chose to be a part of that party, a beneficiary himself of gerrymandering, and now he may lose because his party is what it is. It stinks for the rest of us, but the Republican Party doesn't believe in democracy and Deery is smart enough to have known that.
Copenhaver claims her rear is to her god, and it's hard to check your ego against an almighty power when you feel you're righteously and divinely called to the legislature by that God. Dangerous turf she's on.
she is gonna make our lives hell when Beckwith runs for governor. He will browbeat this area for all the idiotic voters hoping to stop wokeism from taking down this great state.
This feels like a lot of expensive drama over what will amount to no difference. Think about the original elections held after the ratification of the Constitution. Do we think those were free of minor errors? No. And the nation thrived. Think about Vice President Aaron Burr killing Alexander Hamilton in that famous duel. Drama. This is to say, there is room in the election process for minor error. It's the more noble thing to set aside ego, the desire to win, than to go to battle over an outcome that has nearly no consequential outcome in terms of public policy. Or, more simply, when your guest scuffs your end table, you don't throw it and the guest out. You just move on with the party.
